One Year Ago...

One year ago today we awoke to a gray and rainy day. But that didn't matter because we were doing this...

Wedding Wedding Wedding Wedding Wedding Wedding

I can't believe it has been a year already! Happy 1 Year Anniversary to the most caring, thoughtful, and loving man in my life. I have no regrets...even if the Army has already messed up our plans :)

It's Beginning to Look... er... FEEL A Lot Like...

CHRISTMAS! It is frickin' cold! Mid-October and we're in the middle of winter temperatures. First we get no Summer and now Autumn has passed us by. Before you know it, the city is going to look like this...

NYC in Christmas

And my house will look like this... although we will be in a different appartment by Christmas. I hope I'll be able to get everything up those first couple of days so we can enjoy our Christmas decor.

Jersey Bound... And Other Stuff...

Wow! I can't believe it has been two weeks since I last post. Who knew time could get away from you like that. Anyway, now that I've recovered from Game 163 (baseball fans will know what that means) I have moved on to the ALCS. The New York Yankees are in the ALCS for the first time in 5 years. They swept the Twins last week, with in true Yankee fasion a few nail biting moments. On the other side of the division, the California Angels swept the Boston Red Sox. So now it is the Yankees and the Angels doing battle for the American League title. The Yankees are currently up by 1 game, with game 2 scheduled for tonight. We are supposed to get our second Noreastern any minute now so it is likely the game will be postponed.

In other topics... my job is kicking my ass right now :( I'm hoping once we get into our year end freeze next month that things will quiet down a bit. Right now everyone is trying to get everything in before the freeze. I'm really looking forward to enjoying the holiday season this year.

And, we are jumping the Hudson River to New Jersey! Yep... that's right folks we are moving to Jersey City. We'll still be renting but we will be in a little bit safer and quieter neighborhood. I'll feel a little better as well being home by myself when Freddy is away at drill or training. December 1 is moving day so I'll be without my beloved Internet for a while... The good thing is that we'll be closer to the city so we will be able to go out like we used to. Right now it takes us so long to get home to our house in Brooklyn that we rarely go into the city aside from work.

So... that being said... I need to go start boxing stuff :)

There's Always Next Year...

The Tigers got beat tonight by the Twins in 12 innings 6-5 to end their season. It was an exciting game with a few lead changes. It was broadcast on TBS so I was lucky enough to be able to watch it.

So, I leave you with my homage to the 2009 Detroit Tigers...

Let's Go Tigers!

The Twins face the Yankees tomorrow in the ALDS in New York. Go Yankees! If we're lucky we may even see another Yankees/Red Sox battle for the American League title.

Beautiful Fall, Sunny Day

This morning I actually broke out some of our wedding gifts and made the hubby breakfast. I was going to break out the waffle maker but we opted for pancakes instead. I really wanted to play with our new griddle but there is no room to use it in our current kitchen :( so I had to use a frying pan. The batter dispenser was sooooo much easier than trying to pour it out of the bowl or use the spoon. I also learned that our tortilla warmer also makes a good pancake warmer!

Before we even got out of bed, Freddy was asking if I wanted to go into the city so I knew he really wanted to go somewhere today. Plus the weather was a beautiful fall day... blue sky, cool breeze, sunny. After breakfast we decided to go to the New York Aquarium since neither of us had been there before.

NY Aquarium

From the parking lot you can see the Cyclone, which has been a staple at Coney Island for years. There has been a lot of controversy over the closing of Astroland. I have no idea why it was so hazy at 3:00 in the afternoon on a sunny day.

The Cyclone

The Aquarium was much smaller than I expected, but here are some of my favorite stops from the day.

The Sergeant Major fish... you know who got excited about this one :)

The Caimon... he totally wanted to come home with me!

After the Aquarium we took a walk down the Coney Island boardwalk where I was able to take some nice photos.

The biggest seagull I've ever seen! You should have seen him in person! He was huge!

And, of course, my hubby... surprisingly not wearing his combat boots.

Hello to October!!!

October has always been one of my favorite months, if not THE favorite month. The air has officially turned into that rainy day, fresh air smell. The leaves are turning all sorts of pretty shades of red, orange, and yellow. MLB post season makes for some exciting television. Halloween decorations... nuff said there. And now, one more thing, our anniversary is in October. Yep... on October 25th we will have been married for one year. 21 days and we are no longer considered newlyweds.

So how can one not love the month of October? I put up my Halloween decor today and found that I have accumulated so much stuff that I couldn't put it all out! So I had to make the difficult decision to pick and choose what went out this year and what had to stay packed away.

Of course I had a little helper...

Hadley the Helper

I'll be posting some pictures of my decor in a few weeks but here is one of the first ones. I was playing around a bit with the light and my new camera. I am very slowly moving to some of the manual functionality.

Halloween

Happy October!!
