25 Weeks

Today we are 25 weeks along... that is 6 months and 1 week for those of you who can't think in weeks :) I am now 100% in maternity clothes and find I can't quite bend over very well. Most of my cravings revolve around fruit but every once in awhile I have a craving for Dinty Moore Beef Stew. I still seem to get a little nauseous from time to time but nothing like the first 5 months. In the past 4 weeks my ankles and feet have really started to swell if I sit or stand to too long at a time. I can feel Baby O pretty regularly moving around in the evenings when I'm getting ready to go to bed. Of course today he was pretty active all the way through one of my afternoon meetings.

I now actually look like I'm pregnant instead of just fat :)





We finally broke down and bought the first items for baby. It is a small step toward the reality that this baby is coming whether we're ready or not, but a step nonetheless...

Simple Pleasures

All I have to say is that Shark Week is awesome! I've sat mesmerized for the past hour watching Great White sharks propel themselves completely out of the water to surprise and catch their prey. Very cool!

And... holy crap I just realized that it is August already! Where is this year going???

Not as Difficult...

Well that was easy! I found my previous layout so I didn't have to spend hours finding a new one I liked! Which also would have included hours of messing around with font colors because I am that crazy... Not really too much to add today... just trying to figure out what to do first since Freddy is at drill this weekend playing Army. My options...

1. Watch TV and relax... I am growing a human after all...
2. Clean the kitchen.
3. Clean the bedroom.
4. Play with the putties.
5. Work on my cross stitch.

So many options. Well, I can't play with the putties because it is nap time. I got a couple glaring looks when I had the nerve to talk to them a few minutes ago. Why would I even think about disturbing naptime!





I may entertain cleaning later this afternoon. We still have to figure out how we're going to reorganize the apartment for all the baby furniture that we'll need. I guess we better think about purchasing some of that stuff soon.

I'll probably end up working on my cross stitch...

So Long I Have Neglected You...

It has been over two months since I stopped in here :( and I see that my layout has gone away... I'll try to get that fixed over the next week. That's what I get for neglecting my bloggy.

Well, there was a period of about 4 months where I didn't feel well and didn't even boot up the computer. I'm still trying to catch up on things since re-entering the cyber world earlier this month.

So what's happened over the past 4 months you might ask???

1. I got my hair fixed by a real professional. Turns out the guy who did it before ended up damaging a lot of my hair. The JC Penney salon did a much better job for cheaper :)

2. We visited the Iwo Jima when it was docked in NYC for Fleet Week over Memorial Weekend. Freddy was in his element...

3. I finished book 1 of the Twilight series.

4. I learned about a cool thing call Geocaching. We haven't had a chance to go on our first hunt, but I can't wait to get started.

5. Freddy went to Germany for 3 weeks.

6. After a 5 year hiatus I got back intp my cross stitching. I plan to post pictures of my finished projects.

7. Sooooo adicted to Farmville!

8. New guilty pleasure.... Teen Mom!

9. Law & Order ended after 20 years :(

10. Oh yeah.... and we're pregnant!

The reason that I was sick for 4 months is we've got a baby on the way and due in November. Turns out I got hit hard with the Morning Sickness and then my Motion Sickness went out of control. Now that I'm showing and we've just entered week 24, we actually need to start preparing for baby's arrival. We found out a few weeks ago that we're having a boy so Freddy is estatic that he is going to have a son. So now I'll have something interesting to blog about going forward :)

American Pride... Or Not???

So I know I've been gone a loooooong time :( but I'll post a bit later on that. Right now, I have a bit of a rant to get out.

I was listening to the radio this morning and caught the tail end of a news story that really pissed me off. When I got to work, I looked up the news report on MSN to get the whole story and to see if my anger was warranted. It was...

At Live Oak High School in the SanFrancisco Bay Area, 5 students were sent home to avoid suspension for wearing t-shirts and bandanas with American Flags on Cinco de Mayo. Are you kidding me???? The Mexican-American students are demanding apologies from these students, who refuse to give them and I say good for them. I guarantee nothing would happen to a Mexican-American student if they happened to wear something with a Mexican flag on it on the 4th of July. What kind of message does something like this send to the children and young adults in this country?

I live in the NYC area and you can't go anywhere without seeing Puerto Rican, Mexican, Domincan, Jamaican, Columbian, Haitian, and a wide range of other country flags plastered all over the place. In case anyone has forgotten, we live in the United States of American where the official flag is the American flag.

What seems to me to be happening is we are so concerned with what everyone else might think that we are beginning to discriminate against those who were born and raised in this country. I see it all the time. I get less help in a store because I don't speak Spanish. I finally had to tell the people coming to my door that if they didn't have literature in English than I can't help them. Why am I getting punished for speaking the language of the country that I was born in.

Now, don't get me wrong. I have nothing against other cultures. Many of my close friends have origins in other countries. My husband was born in Ecuador and English is not his first language. But I feel that those who wish to show their American Pride should not be penalized for it, no matter what day it is. Last time I checked, Cinco de Mayo was not a National Holiday in the United States.

Now, if the kids were wearing vulger languange or inappropriate images on their clothes, then yes, address the issue. But an American Flag??? Come on people. Let's use a little commone sense here.
